About Role and Company:

We are seeking a Senior-Level Linux Systems Administrator/BDA to join the Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) Site Operations team. In this critical role, you will support Oracle's internal lab resources, both on-premises and in the cloud, focusing on the implementation and management of lab test and infrastructure systems. Your work will directly support product development efforts for the Oracle Linux, OVM, Cloud, and Engineered Systems teams.

The MAA Site Operations team offers a diverse array of on-premises lab and cloud-based services essential for these product development teams. This includes the deployment and management of servers, storage, networking, and applications services that underpin their operations.

The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of technical skills and extensive experience in Linux administration, particularly with Oracle RAC. Strong teamwork, communication, and project management skills are essential, as you'll collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless operation.

Automation expertise and cloud experience are strongly preferred. Additionally, you will be responsible for complex problem resolution, which may involve integrating and supporting various Oracle and third-party technologies. A key aspect of this role is the ability to learn new hardware platforms and peripherals, create and improve operational standards and documentation, and develop automation solutions to enhance the reliability and usability of lab services. Familiarity with agile DevOps methodologies and cloud-native solutions will be beneficial in optimizing routine systems administration tasks.

Required Qualification, skills:

  • Provide technical support for systems and software in production environments.
  • Manage tasks like system administration, image upgrades, re-imaging, database patching, and configuration health checks.
  • Offer planning and advice for upgrades and implementations.
  • Proactively inform customers about potential product issues.
  • Deliver on-site technical support and troubleshoot known issues based on documented procedures.
  • Document new, complex issues requiring expert technical knowledge.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and follow up on technical escalations.
  • Collaborate with developers to enhance problem-solving.
  • Verify and provide solutions or patches for issues.
  • Research and respond to technical inquiries.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to product developers.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Oracle storage experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with OVM migration projects.
  • Knowledge of Engineered systems like Exadata, ODA, and PCA.
  • Hands-on patching experience with Exadata, Exalogic, PCA, and similar systems.
  • Mid-level or higher scripting/programming skills for automating routine tasks (e.g., Python, Ansible, Go, Perl, C, Shell).
  • Experience with Docker installation, creating custom container images, tagging, and pushing images.
  • Work as an individual contributor.
  • Bachelor's & Master’s degree or relevant exp.
